Central University of Jammu Organised Blood Donation Camp
Jammu, 28 Oct: National Service Scheme (NSS) at Central University of Jammu organised Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at temporary campus at Sainik Colony in collaboration with govt. medical jammu. The function begun with the key note address by Dr. Vijay Sawhney, Head of Blood Bank, Govt. Medical College, Jammu. He addressed the young minds of the university with his inspiring speech about the importance and the benefits of donating blood . He sensitized the volunteers about the need for voluntary donor attitude that can be nurtured at young age by the universities institutes.
Appreciating the role of the NSS in organising and mobilising the donors, he also emphasised students role in creating awareness among the public. The event was graced by Prof. H.K.Sharma, NSS director, New Delhi. While addressing the students Prof. Sharma traced the idea of blood donation way back to Vedic periods where the importance of donating blood is enshrined in vedic literature. The event was presided by the Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor Central University Jammu who himself donated blood. Speaking to the students Prof. Ashok Aiima emphasised the importance of the selfless service through this kind of social activities among the students. He outlined the various social responsibility projects that have been initiated in the past six months such as Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, a NSS unit an adaption of five backward villages close to the campus.

The mobile donation camp was inaugurated by Prof. H.K.Sharma and received overwhelming response from the students community where the girls are participated in large numbers and more than 70 students donated their blood. The event was coordinated by NSS coordinator Dr. J. Jeganaathan.
