Mar 25, 2016

The Department of Mathematics of the Central University of Jammu organised Two Days Workshop in “Computational Mathematics on SageMath- An open source Mathematics Software” at Temporary Academic Block (TAB), Sainik colony, Jammu. The workshop was organized to generate awareness among the participants toward the working with SageMath. This is a first kind of workshop in the area of computational mathematics.

Prof. Kapil Hari Paranjape, IISER Mohali was guest of honour in the workshop and delivered the a inaugural talk. He outlined various various dimensions of mathematics and use of SageMath in mathematical computation. Since Sage is an open source software, so, it is easily available and freely accessible to all. It is equally beneficial for both students and teacher engaged in computational mathematics.

Dr. Jitendra Singh, Hon’ble MoS, Govt. of India, was the chief guest of the event. He congratulate to the Department of Mathematics on organizing such type of workshop. He says, I believe that CUJ has a grand campus at Bagla and that will be one of the leading university in northern region. He mentioned that mathematics is the basis of all subjects and recently due to computational mathematics it became possible to have new and new devices.
