CUJ received grant under FIST

The Department of Mathematics of Central University of Jammu received the grant under Fund for Improvement of Science & Technology infrastructure in universities & higher educational institutions (FIST) for the year 2016. It’s pertinent to mention that in the emerging global scenario, India can be an ideal destination due to its cost effectiveness and availability of knowledge base. Considering the present status of the S&T sector in the universities and related academic institutions who are in dire need for strengthening the existing S&T infrastructure support with adequate funding and associated flexibility, Government of India in the year 2000 announced a major new initiative titled "Fund for Improvement of S&T infrastructure in universities & higher educational institutions (FIST)" to rebuild the Science & Technology infrastructure in the country.
Prof. S.D.Sharma, HoD Department of Mathematics under the patronage of Prof. Ashok Aima, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of CUJ had submitted the proposal to the Department of Science & Technology in the month of July 2016 , thereafter it was shortlisted for presentation and the presentation was made by Prof. S.D.Sharma in the month of September. On the basis of the merit of the proposals submitted and subsequent presentations, only four Universities of the country including the Central University of Jammu have been recommended for this prestigious grant under FIST by the Department of S&T, Government of India, in the category of Mathematical Sciences.
The Vice Chancellor of CUJ, Prof. Ashok Aima expressed his happiness for this achievement of the Department of Mathematics and also appreciated the efforts of Prof. S.D.Sharma for bringing this grant for improvement of the department.
