The Department of Educational Studies (DES) is committed to build a community of excellent teacher educators rooted in tradition and equipped for the future. The Department endeavors to:

• Promote academic excellence and strive to provide quality education. It aims at building a community of teachers and teacher-educators possessing a sound theoretical base in the discipline of education, an ability to analytically examine and evaluate the knowledge acquired and apply the same in their respective fields.
• Excel as a centre of research engaged in grounded research, developing competent researcher and practioners of education.
• Train middle-level managers of education to effectively manage self and the educational institution in their charge.
• Reach out to other educational institutions in the areas of teaching technologies, research methodology in social science and educational management.
