• Short-term: The department is planning to start one year diploma programme on Cyber Security by 2017.

• Medium-term: To establish two research centres of excellence on Border Studies Programme and Energy & Environmental Security Programme

• Long-term: The department aspires to become a premier think-tank on Security and International Studies in Asia.
