CUJ SANCTIONED PRESTIGIOUS SWAMI VIVEKANANDA CHAIR

University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi has sanctioned Swami Vivekananda Chair to the Central University of Jammu in the Department of Public Policy and Public Administration. Fifty four universities applied for this chair and the CUJ was the first among the five selected Universities. The Chair has been sanctioned in the area of “Governance and Ethics. The Chair comprises a Professor, research staff, other technical staff and contingent grant for five years.
 
The work carried out will be of utmost importance not only for the Government institutions but also for the Civil Society in terms of evolving a definitive framework for assessing the role and impact of good governance initiatives on a broader plane. It will also serve as a background study for providing ethical framework for the administrators and people drafting future Government plans. A value based indigenous dimension in governance will emerge, which will validate the relevance of the teachings and writings of Swami Vivekananda.
 
The VC of the CUJ, Prof. Devanand congratulated the Head, Department of Public Policy and Public Administration, Prof. Y. Pardasarthi for this achievement.
