INTERNATIONAL PEACE DAY
The Department of Tourism and Travel Management, Central University of Jammu, celebrated its International Peace Day on 21 September 21, 2015 where the International Institute of Peace through Tourism Credo of the Peaceful Travel was read and pledged at 10:30 am in presence of the honorable Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ashok Aima and the Director Department of Tourism and Travel management, Prof Deepak Raj Gupta.
Mr. Mustafa Ali, a student of first semester of Department of Tourism and Travel Management expressed his views on spreading peace through tourism where he quoted different poets who wrote on peace and enlightened the gathering by uprising them with the importance of peace in the tourism industry.
The Honorable Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu, Prof. Ashok Aima delivered the presidential address. He appreciated the step taken by the Department of Tourism and Travel Management of celebrating the International Tourism Day in the campus. He emphasized that peace cannot be brought through violence as violence consumes violence. He also said that, if man was supposed to live alone there would have been different planets for everyone.
Prof. Deepak Raj Gupta formally welcomed the guests and the gathering on the occasion of International peace day where he upraised the gathering about the collaboration of the Department with the International Institute of Peace through Tourism, India chapter and informed the gathering on proposed centre of excellence in the university in collaboration with the IIPT. It was followed by a documentary titled “The Day After Peace” that got a great applause from the gathering.
While Dr. Amit Gangotia, Assistant Professor, Department of Tourism and Travel Management, Central University of Jammu, delivered the formal vote of thanks, Ms. Asma Bashir, Research Scholar, Department of Tourism and Travel Management, conducted the morning session.
An interactive session was held in the evening where the research scholars of Department of Tourism and Travel Management and Department of National Security Studies interacted and deliberated on the issue of spreading peace through tourism.
