CUJs literary rendezvous with Prof. Neerja Mattoo

Eminent Academician and literary personality, Prof. Neerja Mattoo delivered a lecture in the Central University of Jammu. The brainstorming session themed as “literary interactions” was organised by the Department of English. Known for her work in Kashmiri literature, Prof. Mattoo shared her literary and teaching experiences with faculty members and research scholars of the university. Prof. Rita Jitender, retired professor of University of Jammu, moderated the session.

Prof. Mattoo retired as the Principal and HOD of English at the Government College for Women in Kashmir. She has been translating wide spectrum of Kashmiri prose and poetry into English. She was also awarded British council Visitorship to the University of Oxford in 1984. Her current literary venture is the translation of poems of Lal Ded, famous mystic poetess of Kashmir.

Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice-Chancellor of CUJ, felicitated the guest speakers. Prof. Nandini Bhattacharya, Prof. Deepshikha Kotwal and Prof. Lokesh Verma were also present in this interactive session and upped the intellectual quotient of the session with their scholarly interjections.
