Central University of Jammu celebrates the World Environment Day

The Department of Environmental Sciences of Central University of Jammu celebrated the World Environment Day in collaboration with INTACH Jammu chapter here today at Temporary Academic Block (TAB), Sainik Colony, Jammu.

Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of CUJ was the Chief guest of the programme and he laid emphasis that it’s the duty of every citizen to conserve and protect the environment. The nation building depends upon the useful contribution of every individual of the country.

Mr. Roshan Jaggi, IFS, Chief Conservator Forests Jammu was the guest of honour on this occasion and he laid the emphasis on conservation of forests to conserve water. He also laid stress that there should be strong water policy along with the forest policy to ensure the safe drinking water for each individual.

Dr. C.M. Seth former chairman WWF Jammu chapter shared his field experiences and gave an extended lecture on the theme of the World Environment Day.

Earlier, Prof. H.S. Sehgal, Head Department of EVS welcomed the august gathering and introduced them about the importance of World environment Day. He explained how the illegal trade in wild life is a serious problem and suggested the ways to combat it.

Sh.S.M.Sawhney, Convenor INTACH Jammu presented formal vote of thanks on this occasion. The students of EVS performed skit on this occasion which was appreciated by the audience. Dr. Shweta Yadav conducted the proceedings of the programme.

Prof. M.K. Jyoti, former head EVS CUJ, Mr. Arun Sharma, Director Floriculture, Prof. Ram Paul former Head EVS JU, Sh. Jit Singh, Registrar CUJ, Dr. G.K.Sehgal, Dr. Pankaj Mehta, , Dr. Dinesh Kumar and heads of various departments of CUJ and J&K state government  were also present on this occasion.
