General Orientation Course for newly appointed Assistant Professors at CUJ

Central University of Jammu is conducting General Orientation Course at its Temporary Academic Block (TAB), Sainik Colony, Jammu for the newly appointed Assistant Professors of the Higher Education department of state. It’s a matter of great pride and privilege for Central University of Jammu that it has got an opportunity by the department of Higher Education of J&K to impart training to the newly appointed faculty members who will undergo orientation course.

Jb. Asgar Hassan Sammon, Commissioner Secretary Higher Education & Member of the Executive Council of Central University of Jammu visited today at TAB and interacted with the newly appointed Assistant Professors. In his interaction with the newly recruited Assistant Professors, he urged them to be the flag bearers of quality education and improve the standard of education in the state. He lamented that inspite of having numerous educational Institutions in the state we lack the quality of education which is dire need of the hour to improve the education standards. He stressed that communication skills is very important to become an effective teacher and asked them to take initiatives and challenges and be a good leader because the role of a teacher is to motivate the students to attain excellence.

He appreciated the efforts of Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu and stressed on the various initiatives that CUJ is undertaking in collaboration with National and International organisations.

Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, CUJ apprised the audience about the initiatives of Central University of Jammu in promoting vocational courses and in incubating innovative ides. Further, he informed that Community College of Central University of Jammu in collaboration with NASSCOM Foundation has taken up Campus employability program not only for our own university students but also for other higher education institutions of the state. Prof. Aima suggested the Commissioner Secretary regarding the integration of Higher education institutions of the state with University Business Incubation Centre for mentoring of innovative ideas and entrepreneurship for churning out new generation entrepreneurs.

Earlier Prof. Lokesh Verma, Academic Coordinator of CUJ welcomed the august gathering and informed that general orientation program has been the initiative of Higher Education department in collaboration with CUJ to orient the newly appointed Assistant Professors towards teaching and research skills. The interaction was well received by participants of GOC.

Further Commissioner Secretary reviewed the academic and infrastructure development of the University and also interacted with the students & faculty of community college.

It’s pertinent to mention here that based on the present infrastructure and intellectual strength of Central University of Jammu, the department of Higher Education of J&K has chosen CUJ to impart General Orientation course to newly appointed Assistant Professors. About 74 newly appointed Assistant Professors from different disciplines viz. History, Philosophy, Hindi, Punjabi, Arabic, Home science, Bio-chemistry, Statistics are undergoing this course. This is first time that such type of orientation course has been started for the newly appointed Assistant Professors before their final placements. Dr. Neelika Arora presented formal vote of thanks and Dr Shahid Mushtaq coordinated the event.
