To commemorate birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel as National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Divas), the Central University of Jammu (CUJ) organized various functions at the Temporary Academic Block (TAB), Sainik Colony today. 

The officiating Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Deepak Raj Gupta motivated the students, faculty, Deans and non-teaching staff for having a strong will and determination, which were the forte of Sardar Vallabh Bahi Patel. Prof. Gupta narrated the real life stories of the work of Sardar Patel, which earned him the title of ‘Loh Pursh’.  The National Unity Pledge was administered by Prof. N.R. Sharma, Dean Students’ Welfare, which was followed by the ‘Run for Unity’ in which the deans of various schools, heads of the departments, Registrar, Sh. Jit Singh, Senior Consultant, Dr. P.S. Pathania, Consultant, Dr. V.K. Gupta, OSD (Finance), Sh. H.K. Prashar, Security Officer, Lt. Col. (Rtd.), D.S. Trehan, faculty, students and non-teaching staff of the University participated. A documentary film was screened and photo exhibition was also arranged on life and works of Sardar

Earlier, yesterday, CUJ organized a symposium on the life of Sardar Patel at Government Higher Secondary School, Raya wherein the students from primary, secondary and higher secondary schools participated. The students were over enthusiastic to participate in the event.
