A two-day seminar on Kashmir Philosophy organised by the Centre of Comparative Religions and Civilizations at the Central University of Jammu concluded at its Temporary Academic Block (TAB), Sainik Colony, Jammu here today.

J&K State Minister for Education & Culture Smt. Priya Sethi delivered Valedictory Address, She lauded the role of CUJ in promoting Indian philosophy. ‘Saivite philosophy is a relatively young philosophy in India. We need to adhere to our roots. The govt will also try to promote it in various academic curriculums,’ She said. She further said that she would be happy if a chair is established in the name Abhinavgupta at the university. She promised all possible help in this regard.

Prof. Ashok Aima, CUJ Vice Chancellor chaired the Valedictory session and spoke about social and religious disconnects of the state. He stated, ‘the purpose of such seminars is to address the problems of such disconnects and give harmonious directions to it.’

In three technical sessions, the seminar witnessed deliberations by famous academicians from India and abroad on Rishi, Saivite and Sufi traditions of Kashmir philosophy.

Mr. R.K Kaul from the United States of America made Skype presentation on the role of Chamatkara in story writing. Prof. Gautam Chatterjee screened a film to understand mystical aspects of Shaivite philosophy.

Sujit Kumar pandey, Kartar Chand Sharma, Dr. Yogesh Sharma, Prof. Subhash Phogat, Prof. Siddharth Singh, Dr. Hina Abrol, Dr. Shalini Rana, Prof. Hamiddulah Marazi, Shivani Parihar presented scholarly research papers on variety of themes.

Padamshri Prof. Kashinath Pandit, Prof. Lalit Maghotra and Prof. Siddharth Singh chaired the technical sessions.

On the first day of the seminar, J&K Governor Shri N.N. Vohra had delivered the inaugural address.
