12th Executive Council of CUJ held

The 12th Executive Council meeting of Central University of Jammu was held here today at its Main Campus, Raya Suchani (Bagala), Samba, to deliberate on the various developmental activities in the university since last executive meeting held in 15th July 2016. The meeting was attended by Dr. Radhakrishnan Koppillil, an advisor of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) and Department of Science & Technology, Government of India, Dr. Asgar Samoon, Commissioner Secretary, Higher Education, J&K, Prof. Dev Raj, Former Chairman UGC, Prof. Ashok Ogra, Director Apeejay Institute of Mass Communication, New Delhi, Prof. Mohammad Israrul Haque, Dean & Chairman, Dept. of Business Admin, Aligarh, Prof. K. L. Chopra, Former Director IIT Kharagpur, Prof. Mehraj Ud Din, Vice Chancellor Central University of Kashmir and Deans and Heads of various Departments of Central University of Jammu.

The important issues discussed were relating to the action taken report in pursuance of the decisions taken in the last executive council and creation of non-teaching, technical and other academic posts for the university, to consider enhancement of age in superannuation in respect of Non-teaching Medical Posts in the Central universities. To consider adoption of the guidelines issued by the Govt. of India/MHRD/DOPT concerning model recruitment rules for various posts in official language cadre. To consider the recommendation of the Academic Council regarding starting of faculty Development Programme through General Orientation course and Refresher course for the teachers/faculty in Central University of Jammu in line with provisions of UGC HRD Centre (Staff College), to consider the recommendation of the Academic Council regarding starting of two new Centres under Department of NSS from the Academic session 2017-18 and starting of three months certificate course in Yoga in Central University of Jammu.

Earlier, Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu in his welcome address gave a synoptic overview & glimpses of the achievements, distinctions and awards attained by CUJ in last one year. He also informed the Council about the new initiatives & proposals which are in its final stage of clearance like establishing of Department of Earth Science, Department of Computational Mathematics and Department of Space Technology

Prof. Dev Raj congratulated the Vice-Chancellor CUJ for having selected meritorious faculty members in sciences. He interacted with the faculty and desired to support the endeavour of new selected brilliant teachers. Prof. K. L. Chopra desired that the teaching learning process should be outcome based. Dr. Asgar Samoon appreciated the initiatives of Vice Chancellor and thanked him for organizing orientation course for the newly appointed assistant professors of state Higher Education department. Dr. Radhakrishnan Koppillil laid stress for making appointments in the institution without compromising the merit.
