ICSSR Sponsored Capacity Building Programme On Research Methodology Commences At CUJ

Twenty one days capacity building programme on research methodology for social sciences faculty commenced today at Central University of Jammu. The workshop sponsored by ICSSR will span across two weeks starting from May 8th - May 28th 2017 at Temporary Academic Block (TAB), Central University of Jammu. Speaking on the inaugural session Prof. Lokesh K. Verma, Academic Coordinator, Central University of Jammu, encouraged the participants and emphasised the importance of doing original and quality research. Citing issues from his career as a researcher, he urged the researchers who have come from various parts of the country as participants to use this opportunity for sharpening their research acumen. Prof. Devanand, Dean School of Business Studies apprised that the school is organising various events for the benefit of the scholars and the faculty members. Earlier, welcoming the participants, Dr. Jaya Bhasin, Associate Professor extended her gratitude to the participants from across the country and resource persons present at the session. She apprised the audience that this workshop is an initiative of the School of Business Studies with an objective to develop research capabilities among young faculty.

She further briefed that the workshop is being attended by participants from different Universities across the length and breadth of the country. Various resource persons from eminent institutes like IIMs, IITs and other Universities of national repute have been roped in for the workshop. Eminent resource persons namely Prof. Dinesh Sharma, Professor at Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management, IIT Mumbai, Prof. K.Prabhakar, Former Dean, School of Management Studies, SRM University, Chennai, presently the Head of Research Initiative at CISM and Prof. Manu Mittal, convenor Silk Route Studies Program, JNU conducted the workshop. This workshop has been organised under the patronage of Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu. Dr. Shahid Mushtaq, Course Director of the capacity building programme and Assistant Professor, School of Business Studies, informed that the two weeks long workshop has been organised to cover various aspects of research methodology and also provide the participants with the hands-on experience of statistical research tools. The workshop will benefit faculty members spanning across country engaged in social science research in their early as well as advanced stages of their career.

The programme would also provide practical training about the application of latest software techniques in social science research. Ms. Anjali Pathania, Assistant Professor School of Business Studies, and Course Co-ordinator, briefed the participants about the activities planned in the workshop whereas Mr. Gowhar Rasool, Assistant Professor, School of Business Studies delivered the formal Vote of Thanks.


Keeping up with the entrepreneurial spirit, the School of Business Studies earlier in the morning organised an industrial visit to Chenab Textiles Mills and Berger Paints for the students of MBA (HRM)
