CUJ organize programme on World No Tobacco Day

The Department of Botany and Zoology of Central University of Jammu, celebrated “World No Tobacco Day” by organizing an awareness campaign on 31st May 2017 at its TAB, Sainik Colony, Jammu here today.


Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Ashok Aima, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, stressed upon the importance of having a healthy body to house a healthy mind, which in turn would lead to a healthy society and order in the world. He encouraged the faculty to conduct more such awareness programmes in future relevant to society.


Dr. Deepak Abrol, Radiation Oncologist, GMC, Jammu, Founder LBNROH – Cancer Care Foundation and Vice president, Association of Radiation Oncologists of India (North Zone) delivered a lecture on the Theme “Tobacco – A threat to Development”.


Earlier, Prof. S.K. Khosa Head, Departments of Physics; Nano and Material Sciences gave the opening remarks. Students from the Departments of Botany, Zoology, Chemistry and National Security Studies participated actively in poster-making and slogan-writing competitions. Ms. Akanksha Sharma (Botany Dept.) stood first in poster-making while Ms. Supreet Kour (Botany Dept.) ranked first in slogan-writing competition.
Prof. Narinder Tripathi, HoD Department of Botany and Zoology, declared the names of the winners of the events and gave the concluding remarks followed by vote of thanks by Dr. Samantha Vaishnavi.
