Central University of Jammu in collaboration with J&K Social forestry department Jammu, organised Vanmohatsav, in which near about 3000 plants were planted all over the university campus.Manywell known dignitaries were present to grace the occasion along with professor Ashok Aima Honourable Vice chancellor Central university of jammu. Mr.A.K.Gupta (additional PCCF,I.F.S) was the guest of honour of the event.Mr.Gupta while adressing the gathering focused on the importance of planting trees and also how trees contribute in balancing ecosystem. Along with Mr. Gupta many other guests like Mr. Praveen Kumar Raghav(regional director,social forestry department Jammu), Miss Neha Mehta(D.F.O , Social Forestry Department Jammu) and Dr.C.M.Sethanfd Heads of various departments were also present in the event.
Prof. Ashok Aima honourable vice chancellor Central University of Jammu addressed the gathering and said that in coming years University would plant as many trees as possible. He also added that Every student from every Department would plant his/her own tree and tag the tree with his or her name and take proper care of his/her tree,this would ensure the development of healthy environment in the university campus.
Students from the school of Life Sciences (Dept. of Botany , Dept. of Zoology, DeptofcEnviornmental sciences)performed many cultural activities(skit, mime.poetry recitation etc.) the basic idea behind all these activitiesrevolvced around the importance of trees, habitat destruction, effects of deforestation, amd impact of environmental pollution.
The main moto behind conducting this event of Vanmohatsav was tonplant more and more trees and to create awareness among the youth about the vital role that environment play in our life.
