Power and Function of Dean Research Studies

The Dean Research Studies shall:

• To consider and recommend research proposal for funding agencies such as UGC, DST, DBT, ICSSR, etc or other national and international agencies to competent authority. The approval to be granted max in two days otherwise the faculty can submit it directly to the competent authority.
• Convene and preside over the meetings of the Research and Development cell and maintain record thereof under the chairmanship of VC.
• Work to facilitate and promote quality research in the University, and recognized research  centres/laboratories.
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned to him/her by the VC from time to time.
• Provide necessary guidance and encourage teachers/researchers to write research project proposals and suggest incentives/other initiatives to the Vice-Chancellor for the purpose.
• Liaison with relevant International, national/regional agencies/organizations/group/individuals for financial support and promotion of quality research in the University. And also sensitize the faculty and other stakeholders including research scholars/students to the need for making use of these schemes which would promote his/her individual talent and professional career.
• To frame the policy for quality of research journals publication by the University.
• Identify thrust areas of research in the University in consultation with Deans and HOD’s.
• Prepare an annual research report and identify the initiatives to be taken for promotion of quality research work.
• In absence of the Vice-Chancellor the Dean Research or any other person authorized shall chair the meeting of Board of Research Studies (BORS) and other Committees related to research.
• Help in the organization by eminent researchers to interact with faculty and students.
• Develop and establish policy to check malpractices and misconduct in research.
• To prepare policies for instituting research awards and incentives to faculty for recognition of research  contributions.
• Initiate and co-ordinate signing of MoUs with other institutions, industries, etc in India and abroad for collaborative research and development.
• To develop strategies to foster research collaborations within the faculty, across faculties and institutes, and outside.
