Central University of Jammu Organised Gram Sabha under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) to finalize Village development plans on the Occasion of 72nd Independence Day.

 Prof. Ashok Aima, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Jammu, was the chief guest for the occasion. The CUJ under the Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya) flagship programme UBA conducted Gram Sabha of four villages with the cooperation of the Samba district administration on the occasion of 72nd Independence day at Jhang panchayat which has been adopted by the University. Speaking on this occasion, Prof Aima stressed upon UBA aim to link the Higher Education Institutions with the set of adopted villages, so that the institution can contribute to the economic and social betterment of the village communities using their knowledge base. “It is a significant initiative where all Higher Learning Institutes have been involved for participation in development activities, particularly in the rural areas”, he added.

 

 Prof. Aima also announced various initiatives, the Central University of Jammu will be taking for the transformation of the adopted cluster of villages in Jhang Panchayat like Public Library, Career Counselling for Unemployed Village Youth, Coaching for Competitive exams, Computer training, English language tutorials, Vocational training in Tailoring & Stitching, Travel & Tourism, Beauty & wellness, Retail Management and support to promote entrepreneurship among the youth. 

It is pertinent to mentioned here that the CUJ has been recently selected through challenge mode and become the Participating Institute under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan by signing MoU with IIT-Delhi, the National Coordinating Institute.

 The UBA Cell members in the recent weeks have interacted with the representatives of the adopted four villages and conducted village & household surveys and prepared action plans. The problems and issues of these villages were identified and solutions were suggested in the Gram Sabha organized on the occasion of Independence Day.

On behalf of the Samba district administration, Mr. Mukesh Sharma, BDO Ramgarh attended the Gram Sabha meeting. The event was organized and coordinated by Dr. Rouchi Chaudhary, Convener, UBA Cell and members Dr. Kiran, Dr. Susanta Nag, Mr. Vinay Kumar. The event was successfully conducted with the active participation of the villagers of the adopted cluster, faculty members and UBA student volunteers of the Central University of Jammu.
