4th Court Meeting of CUJ Held

The fourth Court meeting of Central University of Jammu was held here today at its Main Campus, Raya Suchani (Bagala), Samba, to deliberate on the various developmental activities in the university since last Court meeting held in 15th June 2015.
The meeting was chaired by Shri. N.N. Vohra, Hon’ble Governor of state, who is Ex-Officio, Chairperson of the University.

Governor Shri. N.N. Vohra emphasized that focus need to be laid on taking up the research project on the local conditions of the state. He also stressed on understanding the local geology, surfaced and ground water quality in and around Central University of Jammu. He also stressed for collaborating research work with SKUAST-Jammu.


Prof. Ashok Aima, Vice-Chancellor of Central university of Jammu, in his welcome address gave a synoptic overview & glimpses of the achievements and made a detailed presentation and provided details of various initiatives taken by the university for the development.

The important issues discussed in the meeting were regarding emphasis on the strengthening the existing academic programmes and making preparations for starting and making preparation for starting of new academic programmes, opening of new centres and change of the name of certain departments.

An MoU in presence of Hon’ble Governor of state was also signed between Central University of Jammu with National Council of Rural Institute (NCRI) under Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Government of India for fostering Rural community engagement and social responsibility among the students.

Those attended the meeting were Prof. M.I. Haque, Prof. (Dr.) Yogesh Tyagi, Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi, Dr. Ram Vishwakarma, Director, IIIM, Jammu, Prof. Pervez Mustajab, Zakir Hussain College of Engineering & Technology AMU-Aligarh, Shri Balwant Thakur, Consultant-cum-Regional Director, Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jammu, Sh. Ashok Bhan, Patron, IIPA J&K Regional Branch, Jammu, Former Director General Jammu and Kashmir Police, Prof. Anju Bhasin, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, Deans and Heads of various Departments of Central University of Jammu. Representatives of teachers, Non-Teaching Staff, Alumni representatives and Students Council Representatives were also the members of the court meeting. Col. Ravi Kaul, Registrar presented formal vote of thanks in the meeting.

Earlier in the morning Hon’ble Governor inaugurated the Kendriya Vidyalaya of Central University of Jammu at village Raya Suchani. Governor expressed his satisfaction on the opening of KV as it will serve the needs of children of both staff of CUJ and the rural inhabitants of the surrounding area. He congratulated the VC for starting the admission and classes this year. Mr. D.R. Meena and Mr. A.S Gill, Assistant Commissioners Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Jammu were also present along with other officials from KV Sangathan.
