Event: Heritage walks to the Holy cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi organized by Department of Tourism & Travel Management



"Department of Tourism and Travel Management (DTTM), Central University Jammu organised
""Heritage walk to the traditional route of Holy cave Shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi"" on
September 27, 2022 The Department of Tourism and Travel Management (DTTM), Central
University Jammu, in collaboration with the Tourism Department, INTACH, and Cooperative
department of J&K organised TRAVELISM-2022 to honour World Tourism Day 2022. As part
of this event, an outreach activity called ""Heritage walk to the Holy cave Shrine of Shri Mata
Vaishno Devi"" on September 27, 2022 under the guidance of Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Honourable
Vice Chancellor, Central University of Jammu. The essence of the entire schedule was to explore
an unexplored traditional route to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi under the guidance of Mr. S.M Sahani
(KAS) Retd., convenor, INTACH Jammu Chapter. All the Faculty members, research scholars
and Students of MBA of Department of Tourism and Travel management participated in this
outreach program. During this trip, the group visited Pangali, Thanda Paani, Marh, Gundla,
Bamyal, Gair Mandir, and Auli ka to learn about their significance. INTACH has supported the
theme and idea of ""Rethinking Tourism"" of world tourism organization for the future travel
industry by providing overall briefing and education to protect and restore these places. Students
and participants met Self-Help groups (SHG'S) and various tourism stakeholders promoting this
traditional Route of Mata Rani and learned about rural tourism and community-based tourism.
Furthermore, the department visited the Food Craft Institute to learn about hospitality and hotel
administration procedures. Dr Jyoti Bhatti, Principal and staff of FCI welcomed the faculty,
scholars and students from Central University Jammu. Additionally, Head of Department Dr
Amit Gangotia, Dr. Bharti Gupta, research scholars Ms. Prachi Mahajan , Mr. Biswabhusan
Pradhan and Ms. Krishma Rana delivered speeches on the theme “Rethinking Tourism” to
highlight the importance of the World Tourism Day activities."
