Post Graduate Programmes



The Department offers an interdisciplinary Post Graduation level course in Social Work. This four semester course draws its strength from various social sciences disciplines where theory and practicum are blended with an integrated approach. The field work practicum is the signature pedagogy of social work education which emphasises on supervised intervention in the field, to deliberate on theory in practice. Field work practicum imbibes the spirit of social work ethics, values, knowledge and skills in the students. Being a professional course, it offers employment opportunities in wide range of institutions working at international and national level, Government departments and NGO’s.

  • PO1- Integrate the values, principles and ethics in praxis.
  • PO2- Develop professional skills for working in diverse settings at individual, group and community level.
  • PO3- Foster equality, social justice & empowerment while working towards relief, rehabilitation, reform, reconstruction, social action and development.
  • PEO1- To critically understand integration of theory and practice of Social Work Profession.
  • PEO2- To develop the expertise of various social work methods and their application in clinical, community and institutional settings.
  • PEO3- Critically analyse the policy and programmes for the welfare, empowerment and development for different social groups.
  • PEO4- To support and engage with the stakeholders in executing welfare programmes and developmental policies for brining the desired change.
  • PEO5- Develop knowledge of the socio-economic and cultural realities, and their impact on individuals, families, groups, communities and organizations with specific focus on marginalized groups.
  • PEO6- To design and promote research for strengthening the knowledge and interventions for quality social work education and application to promote social change and empowerment through advocacy in the areas of social policy and right-based entitlements.
