About Digital Learning Cell
The technology of online education and all the digital revolution have the possibility to revolutionize higher education scenario in the near future and it is bringing in sweeping changes in the Higher Education landscape. A Large scale expansion of the knowledge & high quality education opportunities and reaching the unreached is the need of the hour. In this regard, Central University of Jammu has taken several digital initiatives to support the Govt of India's NATIONAL MISSION ON EDUCATION through ICT and other innovative digital initiatives.
The government of India proposed that every University should have a Digital Learning Cell which reviews the current use of these digital resources and suggests way to improving their utilization further in the university and the affiliated institutions.
The Central University of Jammu constituted Digital Learning Cell on 29TH October,2018 vide a notification no CUJ/Admin/5-29(var comm.)/2018/939 for promotion and implementation of technology driven digital initiatives for providing wider access to the students with ultimate purpose of ensuring quality and excellence in various domains of higher education. The Digital Learning Cell (DLC) of Central University of Jammu , as a committed and competent team, has taken the challenge of exploring all possible opportunities to optimize the available resources and facilities for digital initiatives. Over the period of time, its role has been expanded to absorb new paradigms of e-learning, training of faculty to develop their own e-content and to use e-content developed by various national coordinators of SWAYAM, training of faculty from other institutes to facilitate streaming of video and web based lectures in their respective institutes.
Purpose and Objectives
- To organize workshops and seminars to facilitate capacity building and professional development of teachers.
- To enable faculty members to design and develop online courses (MOOCs) and blended learning courses.
- To help faculty members in higher education use learner and learning-centered pedagogy suitable to higher education.
- To develop learning material under Open Education Resources (OER) in the form of Interactive Multimedia.
- To help faculty in capacity building for curriculum transactions and scientific assessment and evaluation.
- To create the climate of initiatives for developing Interactive multimedia for supporting teaching-learning process.
- To provide assistance and support for promoting best practices in teaching learning environment through research and dissemination of already generated knowledge.

Dear Students and Fellow Colleagues
THE Covid-19 pandemic has pushed schools, higher education institutions (HEIs) and training providers online to ensure that effective learning continues. While technology can facilitate seamless migration of face-to-face learning to a virtual platform, accessibility to quality digital content is crucial and vital. As we jointly combat COVID 19 by taking preventive and precautionary measures, maintaining social distancing and staying in the confines of our homes/hostels, we can utilize this time productively by engaging in On-line learning. There are several ICT initiatives of the Ministry of Education (Shiksha Mantralaya), UGC and its Inter University Centres (IUCs) - Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) and Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), in the form of digital platforms which can be accessed by the teachers, students and researchers in Universities and Colleges for broadening their horizon of learning.
