Event: One Day Hands on Training on Mushroom Cultivation Programme



The Department of Botany at the Central University of Jammu organized a hands-on training program on ""Mushroom Cultivation"" for a day. This informative and engaging gathering occurred on April 24, 2023, at Panchayat Ghar, Badhouri, Raya Suchani, in collaboration with the Agricultural Department, Samba. The primary objective of the event was to educate and encourage mushroom cultivation among farmers, local residents, enthusiasts, hobbyists, and individuals interested in sustainable agriculture.
The program commenced with an opening ceremony, featuring speeches from distinguished experts and researchers in mushroom cultivation. They highlighted the significance of mushrooms in various industries, emphasizing their potential for sustainable food production. The speakers also discussed the nutritional value, medicinal properties, and ecological benefits of mushrooms.
During the event, Prof. Devanand, the Guest of Honour and Dean of the School of Basic and Applied Sciences, along with Prof. Yashwant Singh, the Registrar, presented mushroom spawn to the local participants. Prof. BS Bhau, the Head of the Department of Botany and Dean of the School of Life Sciences, engaged with the local community, raising awareness about mushroom cultivation.
Dr. Pratibha Lalotra, the event coordinator, expressed gratitude to all the delegates and local participants for their active involvement in the program.
