The Department of National Security Studies, Central University of Jammu successfully hosted its first Model United Nations, ‘YUGAAROH 2026’, on 19th-20th March, 2026 under the esteemed leadership and visionary guidance of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Jain, whose continued emphasis on academic innovation and experiential learning continues to strengthen the university’s academic environment. This student-led initiative witnessed the enthusiastic participation of over 165 students from various departments of the university, engaging in high-level discussions on diplomacy and global governance. The two day event was held under the captivating theme “Weaving Peace from Sparks and Splinters,” which provided a rigorous platform for students to simulate international decision-making and assume the roles of global diplomats.

The conference featured intensive deliberations across five distinct committees, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), United Nations Security Council (UNSC), United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and All India Political Parties Meet (AIPPM). Student delegates addressed a wide range of pressing global and national challenges, from armed conflicts and humanitarian crises to economic instability and domestic policy reforms. The UNGA advocated for institutional reforms to address representational imbalances in global governance architecture. The UNSC engaged in strategic negotiations surrounding the Russia–Ukraine conflict and contemporary Middle East crisis, while the UNHRC focused on accountability and civilian protection in the global hotspots. Concurrently, ECOSOC deliberated on debt vulnerabilities and trade securitisation. The event also bridged the gap between international and domestic politics discourse, the AIPPM featured vibrant debates on contemporary Indian issues such as GST, Education Reform, and the Uniform Civil Code. The proceedings were comprehensively documented by the International Press Corps (IPC), ensuring professional journalistic coverage through real-time reporting and photography.

Dr. Neeta Rani, Convenor of the event and Head, Department of National Security Studies, along with Event Coordinator Dr. R. Sudhakar, Associate Professor, Department of National Security Studies, ensured the smooth and successful execution of the program. The event received valuable support from B.A., Defence and Strategic Studies Students Ms. Charvi Gupta, Secretary General, and Ms. Akshita Sajawal Sharma, Director General, as well Mr. Shubham Singh Charka, Research Scholar and Head of the Organising Committee for the Model United Nations event.
